Energetic Healing

Energetic Treatments can be considered as the second level of healing. The energetic aspects of our body can be felt as tingling, electrical, heat, or movement sensations. During light meditation we can often separate the energetic and physical parts of our body.

The energetic aspect of our body has long been accepted by most traditional healing approaches such as acupuncture, Chi Gong, Tai Chi, Ayurveda, the Chakra system, meditation, yoga, and shamanism.

At its core, there is an understanding that there is energy moving within our body that creates an electromagnetic field. This field is connected to everything in and around us: our cells, organs, other human beings, animals, plants, natural objects, planets, and stars. Everything that happens within us has an energetic component. Any biochemical reaction has an energetic component. Thoughts, emotions, and movements all have an energetic component.

The main idea is that there in no significant separation between the physical and energetic worlds. Working through the energetic aspects of our body, we have the ability to change the physical conditions we are dealing with, to heal both emotional and physical illnesses.

Acupuncture meridians — which serve as a basis for understanding how acupuncture works — cannot be found in our physical body. But Chinese healers have identified, described, and used knowledge about meridians for more than five thousand years. Chinese monks discovered them during deep meditation practice. Contemporary scientists can objectively locate acupuncture points using electromagnetic equipment; there is a decreased electrical conductivity at these points. By activating acupuncture points, energy flow increases in the acupuncture meridians, helping the body balance energy flow. It is well known that acupuncture can heal a multitude of physical and emotional conditions.

Energetic channels create a complex network connecting every part of our body within and without. Our energetic network is a fascinating phenomenon and is often difficult to imagine for western people. Alex Grey has created a series of paintings that can help your understanding (www.alexgrey.com). Different native cultures have remarkably similar descriptions of the energetic body. Indians, for instance, describe it as a network of energy centers they call Chakras.

Every acupuncture meridian and point carries energetic information that can affect our physical and emotional well-being. For example, some acupuncture meridians are responsible for certain emotional disturbances. Through Kinesiological testing we can find which meridian is affected, what particular emotions are out of balance, and than use Applied Psycho-Neurobiology to initiate healing.

Several innovative healing methods are based on an understanding of the energetic imbalance carried by acupuncture meridians. Using John Diamond, M.D’s research in psycho-kinesiological testing, Roger Callaghan, Ph.D. has developed a revolutionary approach to energetic healing, known as Thought Field Therapy (TFT) (www.thoughtfieldtherapy.net). By tapping a sequence of acupuncture points located by Kinesiological testing and thinking of a particular emotionally stressful event, an issue can be resolved almost instantly. Several methods simplifying TFT have also been developed. One of the best ones promoted is called the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) (www.EmoFree.com) developed by Gary Craig. EFT can be learned online and has been promoted as a universal cure. However, while there are no significant side effects, it is my opinion that these methods have many limitations and improvements are often short lived.

Energetic treatments have multiple applications in restoring the body to health and balance, and have remarkably few side effects. But western trained physicians are very skeptical about their effectiveness. In my experience, doctors who become exposed to these methods because of their own personal issues, or through their patients, often become more open to learning and using these methods in their own life and practice.

One of the most advanced energetic treatment techniques is APN, an approach developed by Dietrich Klinghardt, M.D., Ph.D.
