What Is Neural Therapy?
Neural Therapy (NT) is a holistic medical technique that uses small doses of local anesthetics—primarily procaine or lidocaine—to diagnose and treat dysfunctions of the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS). Injections are given into interference fields (IFs), scars, or nerve ganglia to restore self-regulation and promote healing of physical and emotional conditions.
Known in other contexts as “Procaine Therapy,” “Novocain Blockade,” or “Healing Anesthesia,” NT is fundamentally different from conventional anesthetic use: its aim is not merely to numb pain, but to resolve the root cause of dysfunction.
A Brief History
NT originated in Germany in the early 20th century. A defining moment occurred in 1940 when a simple scar injection relieved a distant chronic pain instantly—what became known as the “Lightning Reaction.” This led to the discovery of the interference field (IF), a central concept in NT.

Why Is NT So Unknown in the U.S.?
Despite its long and successful history in Europe, Latin America, and the former Soviet Union, NT remains largely unknown in English-speaking countries. It is often dismissed as “alternative,” and is not covered by insurance.
To change that, I’ve worked with international experts to teach NT in the U.S., helped organize international symposia, and co-founded the North American Academy of Neural Therapy (NAANT.org) to train practitioners.
